AI in IB Schools: From Integration to Governance, Safeguarding, and Purposeful Use
AI is increasingly present across IB schools, both through student use and through the platforms and services schools adopt. As this technology becomes embedded in teaching, learning, and assessment, the role of leadership becomes critical.
This session moves beyond the question of which tools to use, and focuses instead on how to lead AI integration in a way that aligns with IB values, protects students, and supports meaningful learning.
Grounded in the European and Spanish context, the session provides a clear, practical lens on what frameworks such as GDPR, the EU AI Act, and national developments mean for schools. The focus is not on legal detail, but on what school leaders need to understand in order to make sound decisions about platforms, data use, safeguarding, and classroom practice.
The session also explores how AI can be used intentionally within IB programmes to support the development of the learner profile, ensuring that technology strengthens thinking, agency, and academic integrity.
Participants will leave with a structured approach to AI integration that connects pedagogy, safeguarding, and governance, along with practical steps that can be implemented immediately.
