What's new in Kognity for High School Science

This school year, Kognity does more of the heavy lifting. We’ve been busy adding features and updates across the platform: new Physics transfer tasks, quicker ways to give feedback, and a clearer picture for district and school leaders. Here’s what’s new, and how it helps you and your students.

New Physics transfer tasks

There are 22 new summative transfer tasks for Physics, one for every performance expectation. Each is built with scaffolded questions that guide students through applying what they know to real phenomena, so you get authentic, standards-aligned assessment without having to build it yourself.

Autoscoring: cut grading time, keep control

Kognity’s new autoscoring feature suggests a score against the rubric and explains the reasoning behind it in plain language. Kognity built it with learning designers and experienced science educators, on a straightforward principle: AI can suggest, but a teacher always reviews and decides what reaches students. It’s there to support your grading, and you keep the final say.

Private notes for you, feedback for your students

Teachers can now leave private notes on a student’s submission, either just for their own reference or as feedback to send straight to the student, across activity sheets, transfer tasks, and quizzes. It’s a simple way to keep track of what you’re noticing across a class and to respond individually without juggling a separate spreadsheet.

Draw response in Kognity

New answer formats: equations, diagrams, and formatted text

Whether it’s a worked calculation, a labeled diagram, or a structured written response, Kognity now supports formatted text, mathematical notation, and drawing, so students can submit their answers on the platform in the right way.

Datatable on students in the Admin Dashboard

Admin Dashboard: district-wide insights

For district and school leaders, the new Admin Dashboard gives a clear overview of usage across every school, with the option to look inside individual classrooms. At a glance you can see where teachers might need support, follow student progress, and decide where your time and resources will make the most difference.

A cleaner, quicker way around the platform

We’ve refreshed the platform’s navigation and library pages, so it’s faster to move between your resources, lessons, and assessments. A small change that saves clicks every day.
