Kognity's 2023 in Review

As we kick off another big year of innovation and collaboration at Kognity, it feels like a great time to look back on some of our highlights from a very successful 2023…

Kognity key stats in 2023

Developing the Kognity platform

Kognity users enjoyed lots of updates and new additions to the platform in 2023. As we continued our expansion into the US high school market, we launched some amazing new features and materials to support inquiry-based science instruction. Here are a few product developments from 2023 that we’re especially proud of.

More customizable learning experiences

The new ‘Hide/Show’ functionality helps teachers to curate the learning experience, giving them total control over the content that’s available to students.

New Cambridge IGCSE™ subjects

We launched brand new resources for the latest Cambridge IGCSE™ Mathematics, International Maths, Co-ordinated Science and Combined Sciences courses.

Awards and recognition

It’s always special to get recognition from our colleagues and peers in the education and technology communities. 2023 saw Kognity recognized in EdTech Digest’s Cool Tool awards, the Institute for Education Innovation’s Supes’ Choice awards, and HolonIQ 2023 Nordic Baltic EdTech 50. Congratulations to our fellow nominees!

Listening to educators

We really value the appreciative comments we get from educators all over the world. But more importantly, we really do pay attention to any feedback and ideas they can share with us. After all, we want our platform to make a real difference when it comes to the genuine, day-to-day challenges that teachers face.

At our internal company conference last month, we had the privilege of hearing from three Kognity educators: Junita Boy from the MPESA Foundation Academy in Kenya, Herbert Herbert Asiedu-Mante from UWC USA in New Mexico, and Anjana Iyer from Hillsborough High School in New Jersey. They shared their personal experiences, motivations and day-to-day challenges in the classroom. Their inspiring stories gave us even more motivation to keep striving to radically improve education for the world’s school students.

Learning and growing together

Once again last year, we made the most of every opportunity to bring educators together to collaborate, learn, and grow. In 2023 we hosted extremely popular in-person professional development conferences for teachers in Ghana, Colombia, Dubai, Canada, and Ecuador – stay tuned for next year’s editions of Engage by Kognity in a location near you!

We also hosted Engage Online: a very special day of online learning and networking for science educators across the US – check out the highlights video!

Welcoming new colleagues

As we continued on our path of company growth through 2023, we welcomed lots of new faces to Kognity – particularly with a view to expanding our presence in the US High School Science market. We now have 25 different nationalities represented in the company!

We were delighted to welcome two esteemed new members to our board of directors, both bringing a wealth of experience and expertise in the EdTech space.

Christine Willig is a 40-year veteran of the K-12 education industry, widely recognized as one of the leading minds across education technology, content, and services, and she received the Lamplighter Visionary Award from the Association of American Publishers in 2015.

Steven Zavari is the former GM Sciences at Amplify. Now based in Stockholm, Sweden, he has unique experience and insight into the education technology market that aligns perfectly with Kognity’s vision.

From everyone here at Kognity, we’d like to take this opportunity to thank our customers and partners for the huge role that you played in our 2023 journey. Here’s to another great year in 2024!
